The CKP sensor is mounted at the front of the engine and secured to the cylinder block by means of a mounting pin and screw. The position of the sensor is not adjustable. The sensor head is located near the corresponding pulse wheel, which is located behind the crankshaft drive pulley. The pulse wheel is fixed to the crankshaft by means of a key.
This is a variable reluctance sensor that provides the engine speed and cylinder 1 position signal to the ECM. The ECM uses this information to determine the amount of fuel injected, the start of fuel injection, and the amount of exhaust gas recirculated.
