The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is located at the rear of the crankshaft, behind the flywheel to the left of the rear oil seal carrier. The sensor generates an input signal of crankshaft speed and position. The sensor uses the Hall effect, based on which the sensor scans a "target" (magnetic disk) on the crankshaft. An air gap of 0.4-1.5 mm between the "target" and the CKP sensor is achieved by appropriately positioning the sensor.
