Four oil jets are mounted on the left side of the cylinder block, below each cylinder. The nozzle body is installed directly in the main oil gallery. Pressurized oil is sprayed under each piston to lubricate the cylinder walls and piston pin and to cool the piston crown. When sprayed oil comes into contact with the underside of the piston, the oil collects and flows around the two cooling passages, cooling the piston crown.
A valve installed in the oil nozzle body blocks the spray of oil before the pressure in the lubrication system exceeds 0.5 bar.
