The intake manifold is located on the left side of the engine and is secured to the cylinder head with seven bolts. The four lower swirl ports and the four upper feed ports are sealed against the cylinder head and camshaft cover with a shaped sealing ring. When installing the intake manifold, care must be taken to ensure that the sealing rings are seated correctly in the ports.

NOTE: A small amount of grease may be used to hold the O-rings in the intake manifold ports during intake manifold installation.

The intake manifold contains the electronic throttle assembly and the port cut-off device components. The port on the right side of the intake manifold is used to connect the EGR transfer tube. For more information, refer to the chapter:
