Wings — removal, painting and installation (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the headlight bezel.

3. Remove the front bumper.

4. Remove the turn signal repeater.

5. Unscrew the 4 screws securing the wing to the "A" pillar.

6. Loosen the screws securing the lower part of the wing to the bumper bracket and threshold trim.

7. Right wing only: Loosen the antenna mounting nut.



8. Unscrew the 7 screws securing the top of the wing (in the gutter).

9. Tear off the wing seal along the "A" pillar and remove the wing. When removing the right wing, disconnect the antenna.

Coloring

10. Remove any remaining sealant from the wing mating surfaces.

11. Paint the wing.

12. If you are installing an old wing, touch up the mating surfaces of the wing.

Installation

13. Apply 3M 8572 sealant to the wing mating surfaces "Bolted Panel Sealer".

14. Install the wing, tighten the mounting screws.

15. Check the alignment of the wing cuts with the car body parts.
