Removal


CAUTION: Make sure the bushing is installed straight.




NOTE: Remember the position of the bushing.


1.
CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.


Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove the exhaust system. For more information, refer to Exhaust System (10/30/08)

3. Support the bridge assembly with a suitable jack.

4. Remove the axle carrier bushing heat shield. Remove the 2 mounting bolts.

4. Remove the axle carrier bushing heat shield. Remove the 2 mounting bolts.


5.
CAUTION: Bolts should only be used once.


Remove the bridge holder.
  • Unscrew and discard the 3 bolts securing the bridge holder to the bridge.
  • Remove the axle holder bushing bolt.
Remove the axle holder bushing bolt.


6.
NOTE: Remember the position of the bushing.


Using special tools, remove the bridge holder bushing.

Using special tools, remove the bridge holder bushing.





Installation


1.
CAUTION: Make sure the bushing is installed straight.


Using special tools, install the bridge holder bushing.

Using special tools, install the bridge holder bushing.


2. Install the bridge holder.
  • Tighten the M14 bolt to a tightening torque of 105 Nm.
  • Tighten the new axle carrier mounting bolts to 80 Nm, then tighten an additional 60 degrees.

3. Install the axle carrier bushing heat shield.

4. Remove the bridge support.
