External handle of the luggage compartment door (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the plastic trim from the luggage compartment door.

2. Secure the glass with the latch in the upper position.



3. Unscrew the 3 nuts securing the outer handle to the door.



4. Remove the handle from the door.

5. Disconnect the 2 Lucar type electrical connectors from the license plate light.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the handle from the door.



7. Select a gasket.



8. Remove the nut from the lock cylinder.

9. Remove the lock cylinder from the handle.

Installation

1. Install the lock cylinder onto the handle.

2. Install the gasket on the handle.

3. Place the handle on the door and connect the Lucar type electrical connectors and the multi-pin electrical connector to it.

4. Install the handle on the door and tighten the nuts to 5 Nm.

5. Install the plastic trim on the luggage compartment door.

6. Release the glass from the latch.

7. Close the door.
