The storage requirements for SRS system components are high. This may require coordination with local authorities.
WARNING: Airbags and seat belt pretensioners are classified as explosives. For storage overnight or longer, they must be placed in a steel safe that has the required degree of protection and is registered with the local authorities.
WARNING: Store airbags face up. If the airbag is stored deployed side down, it will be thrown up with sufficient force if it is accidentally deployed to cause serious injury.
WARNING: Improper storage may damage airbags and render them unusable. If there is reason to believe the airbag is defective, then it must be replaced. To activate and dispose of the airbag, refer to the appropriate section of the Manual.
If temporary storage of the airbag module is required, always observe the following rules:
- Make sure the airbag cover is facing up and the car trunk is securely closed.
- System components should be stored in a cool, dry and safe environment.
- Do not place any objects on top of the airbags.
- Store the removed air bag assembly on a flat surface, away from electrical components and sources of heat in excess of 85°C.
