Dismantling
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain the coolant from the engine.
COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K: KV6 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing and filling the system.
3. Remove the intake receiver.
COLLECTORS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: MOD. K, V6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold seals: vehicles manufactured before May 2003.

4. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the right fuel rail to the intake manifold. Remove the injector protective cover (if installed).
5. Disconnect the 2 clamps securing the engine harness to the rear eye and to the bracket on the right intake manifold.

6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.
7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing.
8. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper hose from the elbow pipe of the cooling system.

9. Unscrew the bolt securing the thermostat housing with the elbow pipe to the cylinder block.
10. Remove the elbow pipe from the cylinder block.
11. Remove the thermostat housing with the hose from the cylinder block.
12. Release the clip and disconnect the cooling system pipe from the thermostat housing.
13. Remove 4 O-rings from the thermostat housing, elbow and cooling system pipe and dispose of them.
Installation
1. Lubricate new O-rings with rubber grease and install the O-rings into the grooves on the thermostat housing, elbow and coolant tube.
2. Install the coolant tube into the thermostat housing so that the clip ears are in the upper position.
3. Position the thermostat housing and coolant pipe over the cylinder block, insert the pipe into the cylinder block, and press the thermostat housing into place. The hole in the thermostat housing flange should align with the bolt seat in the cylinder block.
4. Insert the elbow into the cylinder block. The elbow must be correctly oriented in relation to the thermostat housing flange.
5. Screw the bolt into the elbow pipe and into the flange of the thermostat housing. Tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 18 Nm.
6. Connect the upper hose to the elbow and secure with a clamp.
7. Connect the heater hose and the lower hose to the thermostat housing and secure them with clamps.
8. Install the engine harness onto the brackets and secure with clamps.
9. Install the injector protective cover (if installed) on the right fuel rail, screw in the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 9 Nm.
10. Install the intake receiver.
