Bimetallic valve of fuel supply system: before May 2003 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

WARNING: Fuel vapors are highly flammable and toxic and explosive in confined spaces. Always have a foam, carbon dioxide (CO₂), gas or powder fire extinguisher on hand when working with fuel.

2. Lay out a rag to collect any leaking fuel.

CAUTION: Fuel leakage is inevitable during this operation. Take safety measures to prevent fire or explosion.

3. Disconnect the fuel pipes with quick-release connectors from the bimetallic valve.

CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.

4. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the valve.

5. Remove the bimetallic valve.

NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to provide access to other system components, no further disassembly operations should be performed.

6. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the valve.

Installation

1. Connect the fuel hose to the bimetallic valve and secure it with clamps.
