Upper timing belt cover (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.



2. Loosen the lower timing belt upper cover mounting bolt.

3. Unscrew the 5 bolts securing the top cover to the back cover.

4. Remove the upper part of the timing belt cover with the seal.

Installation

1. Wipe the lid.

2. Install the cover, making sure the seal is in the correct position.

3. Screw in the cover mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 5 Nm.

4. Tighten the lower cover-to-engine mounting bolt to 5 Nm.

5. Connect the negative battery terminal.
