Examination


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the lower engine guard.

6. Unscrew the plug of the crankshaft TDC locking device hole.

7. Using a socket head and a ratchet, rotate the crankshaft until the piston of the 1st cylinder reaches the TDC position.

11. Remove the LRT-12-173 tool from the intake camshaft and install it on the exhaust camshaft.



12. If the exhaust camshaft is in the correct position, the bearing surfaces of the LRT-12-173 tool will touch the valve cover recess plane on both sides.

Adjustment


1. Secure the hood in a vertical position.

2. Remove the upper engine mount cross member.

3. Unscrew the nut securing the right engine bracket to the hydraulic support.

4. Attach the lifting chains to the eyes and raise the engine to improve access.

5. After securing the crankshaft with the LRT-12-108 tool and holding the camshafts with an open-end wrench by the hexagons, unscrew and dispose of the bolts securing the chain drive sprockets.

6. Using new bolts, tighten the sprockets until they rotate freely without end play.

7. Install the LRT-12-174 tool onto the cylinder head.

8. Using the LRT-12-173 tool, set the intake camshaft to the correct position and tighten the LRT-12-174 tool mounting bolt.

9. Holding the intake camshaft with a hex key and using a torque sector, tighten the intake camshaft sprocket mounting bolt to 20 Nm and turn it another 35°.

10. Loosen the LRT-12-174 tool mounting bolt and remove the LRT-12-173 tool from the intake camshaft.

11. Using the LRT-12-173 tool, set the exhaust camshaft to the correct position and tighten the LRT-12-174 tool mounting bolt.

12. Holding the exhaust camshaft with a hex key and using a torque sector, tighten the exhaust camshaft sprocket mounting bolt to 20 Nm and turn it another 35°.



13. Remove fixtures LRT-12-174 and LRT-12-173.

14. Remove tool LRT-12-108 to release the crankshaft.

15. Using a socket head and a ratchet, turn the crankshaft two revolutions until the piston of the 1st cylinder reaches the TDC position.

16. To fix the crankshaft in the TDC position of the first cylinder, install the LRT-12-108 device.

CAUTION: Do not rotate the engine against the normal direction of rotation.

17. Install the LRT-12-173 tool onto the intake camshaft.

18. If the intake camshaft is in the correct position, the bearing surfaces of the LRT-12-173 tool will touch the valve cover recess plane on both sides.

19. Remove the LRT-12-173 tool from the intake camshaft and install it on the exhaust camshaft.



20. If the exhaust camshaft is in the correct position, the bearing surfaces of the LRT-12-173 tool will touch the valve cover recess plane on both sides.

21. If necessary, the valve timing adjustment should be repeated.

22. Remove fixtures LRT-12-173 and LRT-12-108.

23. Screw in the plug of the crankshaft TDC locking hole.

24. Lower the engine onto hydraulic supports.

25. Screw on the engine bracket mounting nut to the hydraulic support and tighten it. Tightening torque 85 Nm.

26. Disconnect the rigging chains.

27. Reinstall the upper engine mount cross member.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Upper right engine mount cross member.


28. Install the valve cover with gasket.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Valve cover gasket.


29. Install the mudguard and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.

30. Reinstall the right wheel and tighten the nuts to a torque of 115 Nm.

31. Reinstall the lower engine guard.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.


32. Connect the negative battery terminal.

33. Untie the hood and close it.
