        0
Necessary equipment:
  • precise tachometer
  • stroboscope

1. The ignition timing angle is 6 degrees before TDC.

2. When checking and adjusting the ignition timing, the air conditioning compressor must be turned off.

Caution: Incorrect ignition timing may cause damage to the engine and exhaust gas aftertreatment system.

3. Connect the stroboscope and tachometer according to the manufacturer's instructions.

4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the distributor.

5. Start the engine: Warm up the engine to operating temperature (before the thermostat opens). Let the engine idle and check the idle speed.

6. When checking, the idle speed should not exceed 800 rpm.

7. Start the engine at idle speed and use a stroboscope to check the alignment of the ignition timing mark with the benchmark.

8. If the mark and the reference point are not aligned, turn off the ignition, loosen the distributor bracket and turn the distributor in the desired direction. Tighten the bracket, start the engine and check that the adjustment is correct.

The original article can be found here lrman.ru

Caution: Do not turn the distributor while the engine is running.

9. Turn off the ignition, disconnect the tachometer and stroboscope, connect the vacuum hose to the distributor.
