Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the intake receiver.

COLLECTORS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: MOD. K, V6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold seals: vehicles manufactured before May 2003.


3. Remove the lower engine guard.

4. Using a 3/8" ratchet, loosen the tensioner and remove the belt from the alternator and power steering pump pulleys.

5. Unscrew the nuts and bolts securing the generator.

7. Before May 2003: Note the position of the ignition coil ground wire, remove the 3 nuts and 3 bolts securing the ignition coils to the left intake manifold.

9. Release the right-hand injector harness either from the injector protective cover (if provided) or from the lugs on the fuel rail.

10. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the right fuel rail to the intake manifold.

11. Unfasten the latches and disconnect the connectors from the injectors.

12. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the fuel rail to the left intake manifold.

13. Unfasten the latches and disconnect the connectors from the injectors.

14. Remove the injectors from the manifolds, lift the fuel rail, disconnect the 4 fasteners securing the injector wiring harness to the fuel rails and move the harness to the side.

15. Remove the fuel rail and discard the sealing rings.

CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.


Installation


1. Lubricate new O-rings with castor oil and install them on the injectors.

2. Remove the plugs from the intake manifolds.

3. Place the injector harness on the injector guard (if provided) and secure the injector harness to the clips on the guard or on the ramp bosses.

4. Install the injectors with fuel rails on the intake manifolds.

5. Connect the connectors to the injectors.

6. Screw in the 4 bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake manifold and tighten them to a torque of 8 Nm.

7. Before May 2003: Install the ignition coils to the left intake manifold.

9. Install the generator, screw in the mounting bolts and nuts and tighten them to a torque of 45 Nm.

10. Using a 3/8" ratchet, loosen the tensioner and place the belt on the accessory pulleys.

11. Reinstall the lower engine guard.

12. Install the intake receiver.
