Mastic for filling cavities (Freelander 2)

After repair, be sure to treat the repaired areas with an approved cavity mastic. In addition, cavities that were disturbed during repair should also be treated, regardless of whether they were factory treated or not. This includes all box-section elements, body cavities and interior door cavities.

Before injecting the protective compound, make sure that the cavities to be treated are free of dirt and foreign substances. If necessary, clean the cavities from debris.

The protective compound should be applied after finishing touch-up painting and before installing any decorative or overhead elements.

During the treatment process, ensure that the protective compound covers all flanges and seam areas and that it is applied to all repair areas of both old and newly installed panels.

It should be noted that new panels and body assemblies are supplied without treatment of internal cavities by injection of mastic. Ensure that these cavities are re-treated after repair.

Reliable cavity treatment is very important. Always follow these rules:

• Complete all touch-up operations before applying the protective coating.
• Check the spray cone shape of the cavity treatment equipment.
• Cover all surfaces that are not to be treated with a protective compound.
• If there is a risk of contamination from spray paint, remove components such as seat belt retractors.
• Before treating the interior cavities of the doors, close the glass completely.
• Treat body areas normally covered by trim elements before installing these elements.
• Clean the drainage holes of the thresholds and doors after treatment with a protective compound.
• Keep all equipment clean, especially spray nozzles.
