Front brake disc (Freelander 2)

Removal

1, Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the front wheel. Refer to the procedure: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Be sure to support the vehicle securely.

2. Release the brake caliper and tie it aside.

CAUTION: Do not place any stress on the brake hose.

3. Remove the brake disc.

Installation

1. Make sure the mating surfaces of the brake disc and hub are clean. Install the brake disc and tighten the Torx screw. Tightening torque: 35 Nm

2. Clean the brake caliper body and backing plate with clean brake fluid.

WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials is harmful if inhaled.

3. Install the brake caliper and tighten the new bolts. Tightening torque: 200 Nm

CAUTION: Make sure the brake hose is not kinked and is installed correctly.

4. Install the front wheel. Refer to the procedure: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

5. Press the brake pedal, check the level of working fluid in the brake hydraulic reservoir and top up if necessary.
