Inner constant velocity joint (CV joint) boot (Freelander 2)

NOTE: Illustration shows right inner constant velocity joint boot; the left one is similar.

Removal

1. Remove the halfshaft. Refer to the procedure: Right Halfshaft (205-04 Front Drive Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).

NOTE: Discard clamps as unnecessary.

CAUTION: Take care to prevent dirt and chips from entering the element.

NOTE: Discard the mounting clip.

5. Special tool: 303-D121

Installation

1. Clean the elements and check them for deterioration.

CAUTION: Observe absolute cleanliness when handling these items.

2. Install the inner constant velocity joint on the axle shaft.

NOTE: Install a new clamp.

3. Install the outer constant velocity joint on the axle shaft.

CAUTION: These components must be installed in the original positions marked during removal.

4. Pack the inner joint with the supplied grease.

5. Attach the inner CV joint boot to the inner CV joint.

NOTE: Install new mounting clips.

6. Install the halfshaft. Refer to the procedure: Right Halfshaft (205-04 Front Drive Axle Shafts, Removal and Installation).
