General information
WARNING: When lifting a vehicle, the following instructions must be followed.
- Place the vehicle on a level and firm surface.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Move the automatic transmission selector to position 'P' - PARK.
- Move the manual transmission lever to the 'N' - Neutral position.
WARNING: If the drive shaft(s) needs to be removed, the vehicle must be fully raised to allow the shaft(s) to be turned. DO NOT use a customer jack and ensure the vehicle is securely supported on axle stands. Once the vehicle is raised, the automatic transmission selector will need to be in Neutral - 'N' to allow the drive shaft(s) to be turned.
To avoid damage to the underbody components, the following instructions must be observed:
Do not place jacks or stands under the following components:
- Any body structure elements not intended for jacking or lifting
- Rear subframe
- Bumpers
- Fuel lines
- Fuel tank
- Brake pipes
- Front or rear suspension arms
- Steering rods
- Rear differential block
- Transmission
- Engine Oil Pan - See Note Below
Note: When performing some repairs, it may be necessary to install a stand under the engine oil pan. In this case, a wooden or rubber bar must be placed on the jack support to protect the oil pan.
Hydraulic jack
Do not start work from underneath a vehicle supported by a jack unless axle stands have been installed in the designated areas.
When jacking up the front of your vehicle, always place wheel chocks under the rear wheels of your vehicle.
Only hydraulic jacks with a minimum lifting capacity of 1500 kg are permitted.
Raising the car and installing stands
To assist in raising the vehicle, use the recommended jacking points on the sill or on the trolley jack support at the rear of the front subframe as shown in the illustrations below.
