Gear shift lever (Freelander 2)

1. Remove the floor console. Refer to procedure: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

NOTE: The transmission must be in neutral before removing the cables; this will ensure that the cables are laid out correctly during assembly.

Installation

1. Install the gear shift lever. Tightening torque: 10 Nm



2. Secure the selector cables.

3. Connect the selector cable ball joints.

4. Disconnect the left cable clamp.



5. Allow the gear shift lever to stop in neutral.

6. Secure the selector cable clamp without changing the position of the gear selector.

7. Install the floor console. Refer to procedure: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
