Dismantling
1. Remove the pan with the gasket.
V8 Engine, ENGINE OVERHAUL, Oil Pan Gasket.
Disassembly
1. Loosen the oil pump mounting bolt.
2. Turn the oil pump drive chain tension nut counterclockwise to loosen the chain.
3. Loosen the oil pump sprocket mounting nut and remove the sprocket.
4. Unscrew the 2 oil pump mounting nuts and remove it.
5. Remove the oil feed and control tubes from the cylinder block, remove and discard the 3 O-rings.
6. Unscrew the adjusting nut from the oil pump.
Examination
1. Wipe the oil pipes, oil pump and mating surfaces.
Assembly
1. Lubricate the new O-rings. The O-ring of the oil feed pipe should be placed in the groove in the oil pump, and the O-ring of the control pipe should be placed on it.
2. Install the oil lines into the cylinder block.
3. Screw the adjusting nut onto the oil pump.
4. Lubricate the oil pump.
5. Install the oil pump by connecting it to the oil pipes and tighten the two oil pump mounting nuts to a torque of 23 N·m.
6. Wipe the oil pump drive sprocket.
7. Place the chain on the sprocket and the sprocket and chain on the oil pump shaft. Rotate the pump shaft if necessary to facilitate installation.
8. Screw on the oil pump sprocket mounting nut and tighten it to a torque of 47 N·m.
9. Turn the adjusting nut until the chain deflection in the middle part between the sprockets is between 8 mm and 12 mm.
NOTE: The oil pump drive chain is adjusted by turning the Allen bolt, which is accessible through the hole for the oil pump mounting bolt.
10. Screw in the oil pump mounting bolt and tighten it to a torque of 23 N·m.
Assembly
1. Install the tray with the gasket.
