Dismantling
1. Remove the timing belt.
ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Piston group, Timing belt.
2. Remove the oil pump.
ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Front exhaust camshaft oil seal, Oil pump.
Disassembly

1. Remove 2 screws and remove the rear cover of the pump.
2. Remove and discard the lid seal.
Examination

(The original article is located on: www.lrman.ru)
1. Apply marks of relative positions to both pump wheels and to its body.
2. Remove the outer and inner pump wheels.
3. Wash the wheels and pump body.
4. Install the outer and inner wheels into the pump body so that the relative position marks match.
5. Check the gaps:
- Clearance 'A' between outer wheel and housing = 0.28-0.36 mm
- Clearance 'B' on wheel projections = 0.05-0.13 mm
- End gap 'C' = 0.02-0.06 mm
6. Replace the oil pump assembly if the clearances exceed the permissible value.

7. Unscrew the plug of the pressure reducing valve and dispose of the sealing washer.
8. Remove the spring with the pressure reducing valve.
9. Check the freedom of movement of the valve in the hole and make sure that there are no burrs or corrosion on the valve body.
NOTE: Corrosion can be removed with 600 grit sandpaper dampened with motor oil.
10. Measure the length of the spring in its free state.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, Engine - petrol K1.8.
11. If obvious scoring is detected on the valve body and if the length of the spring in the free state is less than the permissible value, the pressure reducing valve is replaced entirely. If scoring is detected in the valve channel, the oil pump assembly must be replaced.
Assembly
1. Remove any remaining sealant from the cover mounting screws, the pressure reducing valve plug and its threaded seat. CAUTION: Do not use a tap (for cleaning threads).
2. Wipe the pump cover.
3. Lubricate the relief valve, valve bore and spring with clean engine oil.
4. Install the valve with spring.
5. Place a new sealing washer on the plug and apply STC 50552 sealant to the threaded portion of the plug.
6. Screw in the plug and tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm.
7. Lubricate the pump wheels and its housing with clean engine oil.
8. Insert the pump wheels into the housing so that the identification mark on the outer wheel faces outward and the relative position marks are aligned.
9. Lubricate the new pump cover seal with clean engine oil, install the seal and cover.
10. Apply STC 50552 sealant to the threads of the cover mounting screws, screw in the screws and tighten them.
11. Check how freely the pump wheels rotate.
Installation
1. Install the oil pump.
ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Front exhaust camshaft oil seal, Oil pump.
2. Install the timing belt.
