Dismantling

1. Loosen the 2 clamps and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the valve cover.
2. Remove the ignition coils.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: MEMS, REPAIR WORK, Ignition coil.
3. Remove debris from the spark plug sockets.

4. Release the clamp securing the ignition coil harness and camshaft position sensor from the valve cover.
5. Loosen the bolt securing the camshaft position sensor to the valve cover, release the sensor and move it to the side.

6. In the sequence shown in the figure, loosen and unscrew the 15 valve cover mounting bolts.
7. Remove the valve cover and discard its gasket.
Installation
1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the valve cover and integral camshaft cover.
2. Wash the inside of the valve cover. If necessary, wash the oil separator packing in solvent and blow it dry.
3. Install the valve cover gasket.
NOTE: An improved flanged gasket must be installed.

4. Install the valve cover, screw in the bolts and tighten them to 8 Nm in the sequence shown in the figure.
5. Wipe the camshaft position (CMP) sensor and mating surfaces. Install the sensor, screw in its mounting bolt and tighten to 8 Nm.
6. Secure the wire harness to the clamp.
7. Install the ignition coils.

8. Connect the ventilation system hoses and secure them with clamps.
