Air conditioning system — description (Discovery 1)

The air conditioning system is designed to supply cooled and dehumidified air to the passenger compartment, taken from inside or outside the vehicle. The flow rate of cooled air is changed by changing the speed mode of the heater fan motor. The system is filled with R134a refrigerant. The air conditioning system contains:

• 1. Compressor (mounted on the engine);
• 2. Capacitor (mounted on the radiator of the cooling system);
• 3. Receiver-dryer (installed in front of the condenser);
• 4. Thermostatic expansion valve (installed above the evaporator);
• 5. Evaporator (mounted in front of the heater heat exchanger).

Note: On models with rear air conditioning, an additional evaporator-fan unit is installed in the left-hand luggage compartment.
