Caution: Whenever any hoses or tubes in the air conditioning system are disconnected, replace the receiver-drier.
Use alcohol to clean connections. All new spare parts installed in the system must be labeled R134a.
Nippon Denso ND-OIL 8 or Unipart R134a ND-OIL 8 compressor oil is used to lubricate the system.
Caution: Do not use other types of compressor oil.
Filling capacities:
- capacitor - 40 ml
- evaporator - 80 ml
- hoses and tubes - 20 ml
- receiver-dryer - 20 ml
The total amount of oil in the system is 180 ml.
Installing a new compressor
The new compressor is sealed with nitrogen under high pressure: remove gas from the compressor ONLY BEFORE INSTALLATION.
180 ml of oil is poured into the compressor (value of X). Calculate the amount of oil that needs to be drained from the compressor before installation. To do this:
1. Remove the drain plug from the OLD compressor.
2. Turn the compressor over and drain the oil into a measuring container. When draining the oil, turn the compressor shaft.
3. Remember the amount of oil drained (value of Y).
4. Calculate the amount of oil Q that needs to be drained from the NEW compressor:
- Q = X - (Y + 20 ml)
Service equipment
To service the system you will need:
- Charging station (sAE-J1991 standard)
- Leak detector
- Thermometer (- 60°C — + 20°C)
- Safety glasses and gloves
Caution: The air conditioning system contains refrigerant under high pressure. Air conditioning repair and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel familiar with the charging station and the vehicle's air conditioning system.
