Exhaust Manifold Gasket (Mpi) (Discovery 1)

1. Raise the car on a lift.

2. Loosen the two nuts securing the exhaust pipe to the muffler.

3. Unscrew the four nuts securing the intake pipe to the exhaust manifold.

4. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold.

5. Discard the pad.

6. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.

7. Release the connector from the bracket clip.

8. Cut off the plastic cable tie.

9. Remove the accessory drive belt.



10. Remove the two front generator mounting bolts.

11. Remove the two rear generator mounting bolts.

12. Place the generator aside.

13. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

14. Disconnect the oil dipstick tube fastening.

15. Remove the oil dipstick tube.

16. Unscrew 3 bolts and 2 nuts securing the exhaust manifold.

17. Remove the cooling system pipe from the studs.

18. Remove the exhaust manifold and discard the gasket.

19. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Tighten the exhaust manifold fasteners to 45 Nm in the order shown in the illustration.
