General information about tires and wheels (Discovery 3)

Several combinations of alloy wheel and tire sizes are available. A tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is also available. This system monitors the air pressure in each tire and notifies the driver when the pressure goes beyond the set limits.

As a spare wheel, all cars are equipped with a small-sized steel disc with a tire. The disk is 5. 5JX19 in size, and the T175/80R19 bus is installed on it. A smaller spare tire is standard on vehicles in all markets, with the exception of the Gulf countries. A full-size spare wheel is available on request.

Tires

Depending on the operating conditions of the vehicle, tires of different sizes and tread patterns are used. The tire sizes are listed below:

• 235/70R17
• 255/60R18
• 255/55R19

The following tires are available: All-Season (AS), All-Terrain (AT) and All-Terrain Sport (AT-S).

NOTE: Inflate tires to recommended pressure. (specified in the Operating Manual) you can only do this when the tires are cold (have ambient temperature). After driving or after the tires have been exposed to direct sunlight, park the vehicle in the shade and allow the tires to cool before checking and/or adjusting the tire pressure.

Tire replacement

When removing and installing the tire, care must be taken not to damage the tire pressure sensor.

When removing a tire, do not use a tool to separate the bead within 90 degrees on either side of the valve.

When using tire mounting equipment, the initial position of the mounting tool should be as shown in the figure. The wheel can then be rotated 180 degrees counterclockwise. This will relieve the high tension of the tire bead and allow the remaining 180 degrees of the tire bead to be manually removed from the rim.

When mounting the busbar later, install the mounting tool as shown in the figure. Rotate the busbar, making sure that the bead on the low voltage side does not damage the sensor.

Vehicle Recall Enforcement, Reporting, and Documentation Improvement Act - North American Markets Only

Vehicles sold in North American markets must comply with the Vehicle Recall Enforcement, Reporting, and Documentation Improvement Act (Transport Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act - TREAD). TREAD, in particular, requires that a label be placed on the driver's side B-pillar stating the recommended tire pressure, maximum load capacity, and maximum weight of passengers and luggage that the vehicle can safely carry. This label is unique to each vehicle and is applied on the production line.

Do not remove the label from the vehicle. The information on the label reflects the technical characteristics of the vehicle in its factory configuration only. It does not take into account wheels and tires of other sizes that may be installed by the dealer or the owner.

NOTE: If the vehicle has non-standard sized tires and wheels, the vehicle configuration file must be updated using T4.

If the label is damaged or removed during bodywork repairs it should be replaced with a new label specific to the vehicle. A new label can be ordered from Land Rover Parts and will be printed specifically for the vehicle using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
