Item name | Spare part number | Description |
A | - | Instrument panel low level |
B | - | high level instrument panel |
1 | - | Yellow indicator |
2 | - | Red indicator |
3 | - | Message center display |
Warning indications depend on the type of instrument panel fitted to the vehicle. On vehicles with a low level instrument panel, tire pressure warnings are provided by amber and red LEDs. On vehicles with a high-level instrument cluster, warnings are provided by an amber LED and a text message displayed on the instrument cluster.
The TPMS module manages the display on both types of instrument panels by transmitting messages over the CAN bus. When the ignition key is turned to position II, the instrument panel software turns on the indicators for 3 seconds for verification.
NOTE: If the vehicle does not have a TPMS system, the lights will never come on.
When the TPMS module transmits an indicator light signal, the instrument cluster may beep.
The following table shows the operation of the indicators for various events for both types of instrument clusters.
Event | Instrument panel low level | high level instrument panel |
At any "working" Tire secondary air pressure limit reached | Yellow LED on | The yellow LED is on. The message 'CHECK TIRE PRESSURES' is displayed (CHECK TIRE PRESSURE). |
In the spare tire (if it is equipped with a sensor) secondary air pressure limit reached | The yellow LED lights up for 20 seconds and then goes out. Each time the ignition is turned on again, the yellow LED lights up for 20 seconds and then goes out. | The yellow LED lights up for 20 seconds and then goes out. Each time the ignition is turned on again, the yellow LED lights up for 20 seconds and then goes out. The message 'CHECK SPARE TIRE PRESSURE' is displayed (CHECK SPARE TIRE PRESSURE) |
At any "working" the tire has reached its maximum air pressure limit. | The red LED is on. The beep sounds once when the LED turns on. | The message 'XX TIRE PRESSURE VERY LOW' is displayed (VERY LOW TIRE PRESSURE XX). The beep sounds once when a message is displayed on the display. |
The maximum air pressure limit has been reached in several "workers" tires | The yellow and red LEDs are on. When an important event is detected, an audible signal is activated. The horn sounds once before the yellow and red LEDs turn on and the vehicle speed increases from 0 to 60 km/h. | The message 'TIRE PRESSURES VERY LOW' is displayed (VERY LOW TIRE PRESSURE). The beep sounds once when a message is displayed on the display. The horn sounds once before the yellow LED turns on, a message appears on the display and the vehicle speed increases from 0 to 60 km/h. |
At any "working" the tire has reached its maximum overpressure when operating in the "normal load". | No indication | The message 'XX TIRE PRESSURE TOO HIGH' is displayed (EXCESSIVELY HIGH TIRE PRESSURE XX) |
In several "workers" tires have reached the maximum overpressure when operating in the mode "normal load". | No indication | The message 'TYRE PRESSURES TOO HIGH' is displayed (EXCESSIVELY HIGH TIRE PRESSURE) |
Discharged pressure sensor battery any"working" or spare tire | No indication (a fault code is stored in the TPMS module) | No indication (a fault code is stored in the TPMS module) |
TPMS malfunction | The yellow LED is on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible signal sounds when the LED is first turned on. | The yellow LED is on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible signal sounds when the LED is first turned on. The message 'TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM FAULT' is displayed (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING FAULT). |
Malfunction of one pressure sensor of the TPMS system | The yellow LED is on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible signal sounds when the LED is first turned on. | The yellow LED is on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible signal sounds when the LED is first turned on. The message 'XX TIRE PRESSURE NOT MONITORED' is displayed (TIRE PRESSURE XX NOT CONTROLLED). |
Malfunction of several TPMS tire pressure sensors | The yellow LED remains on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible alarm sounds for each additional pressure sensor failure. | The yellow LED is on. The yellow LED lights up each time the ignition is switched on. An audible alarm sounds for each additional pressure sensor failure. The message 'TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM FAULT' is displayed (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING FAULT). |
TPMS switch is held for 4 seconds to set the mode "normal load", when the engine is off and the ignition key is in position II (excluding vehicles for the North American market) | TPMS switch status LED is on | The TPMS switch status LED is on. The message 'TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT LOAD MODE' is displayed for 3 seconds (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING MODE FOR NORMAL LOAD). |
TPMS switch is held for 4 seconds to set the mode "increased load", when the engine is off and the ignition key is in position II (excluding vehicles for the North American market) | TPMS switch status LED turns off | The TPMS switch status LED turns off. The message 'TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING HEAVY LOAD MODE' is displayed for 3 seconds (HIGH LOAD TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR MODE) |
NOTE: "XX" indicates the position of the tire on the vehicle: FL (left front), FR (right front), RL (left rear) or RR (right rear).
