Removal and installation a 2.7L generator (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Remove the cooling fan shroud. For more information, refer to Cooling Fan Shroud (26.25.11)

3. Release the accessory drive belt.



4. Disconnect the generator wiring harness.

• Replace the rubber insulator.
• Unscrew the nut.

5. Remove the 3 generator mounting bolts.



6. Remove the generator.

• Move the generator.
• Disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation

1. Install the generator.

• Connect the electrical connector.
• Move the generator.

NOTE: Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

Install the 3 generator mounting bolts. Tighten. (tightening torque 47 Nm).



3. Connect the generator wiring harness.

• Tighten the nut (tightening torque 12 Nm).
• Replace the rubber insulator.

4. Install the accessory drive belt.

5. Install the cooling fan shroud. For more information, refer to Cooling Fan Shroud (26.25.11)

6. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
