    Disconnecting/connecting the battery


    CAUTION: Before disconnecting/connecting the battery, the vehicle and battery status must be set. Then, use the table below to select the appropriate procedure.

    Procedure 1


    Disconnect the batteryConnect the battery
    1. If possible, apply the parking brake or place chocks under the wheels.1. OFF
    2. Turn off the ignition2. Connect the battery wires - ending with the "GROUND" wire
    3. Wait 2 minutes until the engine management system is de-energized.3. Turn on the ignition
    4. Open the hood4. Turn on the parking brake switch several times until the parking brake indicator light goes out.
    5. Disconnect the battery cables - starting with the "GROUND" cable.



    Procedure 2


    Disconnect the batteryConnect the battery
    1. Unlock the car and turn off the alarm system using the lock button.1. OFF
    2. Enter the vehicle, turn the ignition key to position II, apply the parking brake, then turn the ignition key to position 0. Remove the key from the ignition switch to de-energize the ICE system.2. Connect the battery - starting with the "GROUND" wire
    3. Wait 2 minutes until the engine management system is de-energized.3. Turn on the ignition
    4. Open the hood4. Turn on the parking brake switch several times until the parking brake indicator light goes out.
    5. Disconnect the battery - starting with the "GROUND" wire

    NOTE: 1. Disconnect the battery - Unlocking the door will initialize the ICE system


    Procedure 3


    Disconnect the batteryConnect the battery
    1. Unlock the left front door of the car with the key1. OFF
    2. Enter the vehicle, turn the ignition key to position II, apply the parking brake, then turn the ignition key to position 0. Remove the key from the ignition switch to de-energize the ICE system.2. Connect the battery - starting with the "GROUND" wire
    3. Wait 2 minutes until the engine management system is de-energized.3. Turn on the ignition
    4. Open the hood4. Turn on the parking brake switch several times until the parking brake indicator light goes out.
    5. Disconnect the battery - starting with the "GROUND" wire

    NOTE: 1. - Disconnect the battery - Unlocking the door initializes the ICE system.


    NOTE: 1. Connect the battery pack - If the battery charge is insufficient to disable the alarm, the alarm may turn on when the battery pack is connected - Step 3 allows you to disable the alarm.




    Procedure 4

    4. Disconnect the battery - starting with the "GROUND" wire4. Turn on the parking brake switch several times until the parking brake indicator light goes out.

    NOTE: Disconnect the battery - If the Remote Control Module (RCM) does not function, you will need to unlock the vehicle with the key.


    (Extra) jump starting a car using wires and a donor car


    Please follow the steps below in the order given.
    1. Connect the end of the BLACK (-) cable to the GROUND (-) terminal of the DONOR vehicle battery
    2. Connect the other end of the BLACK (-) cable to a reliable ground source, such as an unpainted metal surface or engine mount, at least 0.5 m (20 in) away from the battery or fuel lines of the NON-START vehicle.
    3.Connect the end of the RED (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal of the DONOR vehicle battery
    4. Connect the other end of the RED (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery of the NON-START vehicle.
    5. Start the engine of the DONOR vehicle and let it idle for a few minutes.
    6. Start the engine of a car that has NOT STARTED
    7. Let the engines of both cars run for a few minutes, then turn off the engine of the DONOR car.
    8. Disconnect the RED (+) cable from the positive (+) battery terminal of the PREVIOUSLY NON-START vehicle.
    9. Disconnect the RED (+) cable from the positive (+) terminal of the DONOR vehicle battery.
    10. Disconnect the BLACK (-) cable from the ground of the PREVIOUSLY NON-START vehicle
    11. Disconnect the BLACK (-) cable from the DONOR vehicle battery



    WARNING: During normal use, batteries produce explosive hydrogen gas, which can cause an explosion and serious injury. Therefore, avoid sparks and open flames in the engine compartment.


    CAUTION: DO NOT attempt to start a non-starting vehicle if you suspect the battery is frozen.


    WARNING: Wear eye protection when working in close proximity to the battery pack.


    CAUTION: Use caution when working in close proximity to rotating engine parts.


    CAUTION: Before attempting to start a vehicle that will not start, make sure the parking brake is engaged and the wheels are chocked. Make sure automatic transmissions are in 'P' - PARK, manual transmissions - in neutral.


    CAUTION: Before connecting or disconnecting wires and then using electrical equipment, make sure that all electrical energy consumers are in the "OFF" position.


    CAUTION: Make sure that the donor vehicle battery voltage is 12 V and that all electrical consumers of the non-starting vehicle are in the "OFF" position before connecting the wires.


    CAUTION: Make sure there is no contact between the donor vehicle and the non-starting vehicle other than through wires.


    (Extra) starting a car using an additional battery/starter


    Please follow the steps below in the order given.
    1. Connect the BLACK (-) end of the cable to the GROUND (-) terminal of the vehicle battery.
    2.Connect the RED (+) end of the cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
    3. Start the car engine and let it idle.
    4. Disconnect the RED (+) cable from the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle battery.
    5. Disconnect the BLACK (-) cable from the vehicle battery.
