Generator — engine Td4 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td4 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.

3. Models with air conditioning system installed: Remove the compressor drive belt.

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, Air conditioning compressor drive belt - for models with Td4 engine.

4. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the cooling system line to the oil pan and to the cylinder block.

CAUTION: Avoid spilling oil or liquid on the generator.

5. Models with air conditioning system installed: Loosen the bolt securing the compressor bracket to the oil pan, do not remove the bracket.



6. Models with an air conditioning system installed: Loosen the 3 bolts securing the air conditioning compressor to the bracket, move the compressor to the side and secure it.



7. Models with an air conditioning system installed: Remove the 3 bolts and the bracket securing the compressor to the cylinder block.



8. Disconnect the connector from the generator.

9. Unscrew the nut securing the wire from the battery to the generator and remove the wire.

10. Unscrew 3 bolts and remove the generator.

Installation

1. Clean the generator mounting points.

2. Install the generator on the bracket. Tighten the M10 bolt to 45 Nm and the M8 bolts to 25 Nm.

CAUTION: Make sure the top bolt is installed first.

3. Connect the generator connector.



4. Connect the battery cable to the generator and tighten to a torque of 10 Nm.

5. Models with air conditioning system installed: Wipe the compressor and mating surface, locating pins and pin seats.

6. Models with air conditioning system installed: Install the bolts and compressor mount onto the casting, tighten to 25 Nm.

7. Models with air conditioning system installed: Install the compressor, install the bolts and tighten to a torque of 25 Nm.

8. Models with air conditioning system installed: Align the compressor mounting bracket with the mounting points on the oil pan and tighten the bolt to 10 Nm.

9. Install the lower coolant line into the pan and tighten the bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.

10. Install the compressor drive belt.

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, Air conditioning compressor drive belt - for models with Td4 engine, Air conditioning compressor drive belt - for models with Td4 engine.

11. Fill the engine with coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td4 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.

12. Connect the negative battery terminal.
