Tensioner — Accessory Drive Belt — Td4 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the lower engine protection shield.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

3. Remove the hydraulic support.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Right engine hydraulic support.

4. Remove the accessory drive belt.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Attachment drive belt - Td4 engine.

5. Unscrew the bolt securing the oil dipstick tube to the oil filter housing.

6. Move the dipstick tube to the side for easier access.

7. Remove the generator.

8. Position the engine at a suitable operating height.



9. Remove the Allen bolt that secures the accessory drive belt roller and remove the roller.





10. Loosen the nut securing the accessory drive belt tensioner lever to the rear end of the spring mechanism housing.

11. Turn the belt tensioner lever 180° and remove it from the timing cover.



12. Remove and discard the tensioner lever seal.

13. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the accessory drive belt tensioner to the timing mechanism cover.

14. Remove the tensioner.

Installation

1. Clean the tensioner block and mount.

2. Install the tensioner unit. Temporarily install the tensioner arm to align the spring unit with the timing cover. Install the bolts and tighten them to 25 Nm. Remove the tensioner arm.

3. Clean the seat for the tensioner lever seal in the timing cover and install a new seal.

4. Install the drive belt tensioner lever on the timing cover, turn it 180 degrees, aligning it with the spring mechanism housing, and push it into place. Install the nut and tighten to 10 Nm.



5. Install the generator.

6. Install the idler roller on the mounting bracket and tighten the bolt with an internal Allen key to a torque of 25 Nm.

7. Install the oil dipstick tube onto the oil filter housing, install the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.

8. Install the accessory drive belt.

9. Install the hydraulic support in place.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Right engine hydraulic support.

10. Reinstall the lower engine protection shield.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal.
