Starter — engine K1.8 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the air cleaner filter element.

FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM OF GASOLINE ENGINE, ADJUSTMENTS, Air cleaning filter, engine K1.8.

3. Disconnect the connector from the starter.

4. Loosen the nut and disconnect the battery wire from the starter solenoid.

5. Unscrew the lower nut and starter mounting bolt.

6. Loosen the bolt securing the support arm to the left engine mount.

7. Unscrew the upper nut and starter mounting bolt.

8. Remove the engine support arm.

9. Remove the starter.

Installation

1. Clean the starter and mating surfaces from dirt.

2. Make sure the gearbox plate is in the correct position.

3. Install the starter and top bolt without tightening them completely.

4. Install the support arm and the support arm mounting bolt to the engine mount without tightening them completely.

5. Reinstall the top starter bolt.

6. Install the starter in place and tighten its mounting bolts to a torque of 80 Nm.

7. Tighten the support arm mounting bolt to the left engine mount with a tightening torque of 25 Nm.



8. Connect the battery cable to the starter, screw on the nut and tighten it to 8 Nm.

9. Connect the connector to the solenoid connector.

10. Install the air cleaner filter element.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal.
