Starter — KV6 engine (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the battery tray.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Support tray - battery.

2. Remove the starter solenoid connector cover, unscrew the nut securing the battery cable to the solenoid and disconnect the cable.

3. Disconnect the connector from the starter solenoid.

4. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the starter to the gearbox, also remembering that the left bolt also secures the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) connector.

5. Maneuver to remove the starter.

Installation

1. Clean the starter and mating surfaces from dirt.

2. Position the starter on the gearbox, install the CKP sensor connector bracket, install the bolts and tighten them to 45 Nm.

3. Connect the battery cable to the generator, screw on the nut and tighten it to 13 Nm. Install the terminal cover.

4. Connect the shoe to the starter.

5. Replace the battery tray.
