Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

2. Remove the torque converter flex plate. For more information, refer to Flex Plate (12.53.13)

3. Remove the intermediate shaft plug from the cylinder block. Move the part to remove it.

4. Using the special tool, remove the right intermediate shaft drive cassette and sprocket bolt. Remove and discard the Torx head bolt.

5. Remove the left camshaft timing cassette assembly. For more information, refer to Left Camshaft Timing Cassette (12.65.36)



6. Remove the oil pump drive gear.
  • Remove the bolt.
  • Remove the clamp.
  • Remove the sealing ring and discard it.

7. Remove the intermediate shaft thrust plate. Remove the 2 Torx head bolts.

Installation


1. Install the intermediate shaft.


  • Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
  • Install the camshaft spacer sleeve.
  • Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil.

NOTE: The groove in the thrust plate must face towards the cylinder block.


Install the intermediate shaft thrust plate.
  • Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
  • Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil.
  • Tighten the Torx head bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).
Tighten the Torx head bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).


3. Install the oil pump drive gear.
  • Clean the parts.
  • Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil.
  • Install a new O-ring.
  • Install the clamp.
  • Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 20 Nm).
4. Install the left camshaft timing cassette assembly. For more information, refer to Left Camshaft Timing Cassette (12.65.36)

5. Using the special tool, install the right intermediate shaft drive cassette and sprocket bolt.
  • Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
  • Using the special tool, tighten the new intermediate shaft sprocket bolt to 40 Nm, then another 45 degrees.

6. Install the intermediate shaft plug of the cylinder block. Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.



7. Install the torque converter flex plate. For more information, refer to Flex Plate (12.53.13)

8. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specifications
