Gasoline engines
Use unleaded gasoline with a research octane rating of at least 95 (RON) according to ENN 228 specification.
In an emergency (only if the recommended fuel is not available), it is permitted to use fuel with a lower octane rating for a short period of time for driving at a moderate speed, provided that there is no knocking in the engine.
Some national markets use gasoline with an octane rating of 90 RON. 90 RON gasoline may only be used regularly if the engine has been specially tuned for low octane gasoline.
Some national markets use fuel with 23% ethanol added.
Some national markets may supply K1.8 and KV6 engines designed for use with low octane leaded gasoline.
Diesel engines
Use high quality diesel fuel (summer or winter), according to the EN 590 specification.
It is very important that the content of sulfur compounds in diesel fuel does not exceed 0.3%.
Ensure that the fuel filter element is replaced at the recommended intervals.
MAINTENANCE, Fuel Filter - Diesel Vehicle.
Brake fluid
Use only DOT 4 brake fluid. DO NOT USE any other type of brake fluid.
Power steering fluid
The recommended fluid is Texaco 9226.
Coolant of the cooling system
The concentration of antifreeze should not be less than 50% by volume. At a lower concentration of the aqueous solution, its anti-corrosion activity will be deteriorated. An antifreeze concentration of more than 60% is also not recommended, as this will reduce the efficiency of the cooling system.
Use Havoline Extended Life Coolant (XLC), or any other prepared on the basis of ethylene glycol antifreeze (ethanol free) with corrosion inhibitor only based on organic acids (OAT) to protect the cooling system.
CAUTION: Do not mix any other antifreeze with XLC Antifreeze.
In accordance with the maintenance schedule given in the Service Book, it is necessary to drain the coolant, flush and refill the cooling system.
After filling the cooling system, attach a plate to the vehicle indicating the type of coolant filled. This is to ensure that the correct type of coolant is used when topping up.
The following ratios of antifreeze water solution will provide a freezing point of -36 degrees C (-33 degrees F):
Engine - Td4
Concentration | 50% |
Amount of antifreeze | 3.75 liters (6,625 imp. gallons) |
Engine - K1.8
Concentration | 50% |
Amount of antifreeze | 2.9 liters (5.125 imp. gallons) |
Engine - KV6
Concentration | 50% |
Amount of antifreeze | 3.9 liters (6,875 imp. gallons) |
