Always use the following recommended fuel types

Petrol engines


Use unleaded petrol with an octane number of at least 95 according to the research method (RON) in accordance with the specification ENN 228.

In emergency circumstances (only if the recommended fuel is not available), it is permissible to use fuel with a lower octane rating for a short period of time for driving at moderate speeds, provided there is no detonation in the engine.

In some national markets, petrol with an octane rating of 90 RON is used. 90 RON petrol may only be used regularly if the engine has been specially tuned for low-octane petrol.

In some national markets, fuel with 23% ethanol additive is used.

In some national markets, K1.8 and KV6 engines may be available designed for use with low-octane leaded petrol.

Diesel engines


Use high quality diesel fuel (summer or winter) that meets EN 590 specification.

It is very important that the content of sulphur compounds in diesel fuel does not exceed 0.3%.

Ensure that the fuel filter element is replaced at the recommended intervals.

Brake fluid


Use only DOT 4 brake fluid. DO NOT USE any other type of brake fluid.

Working fluid for power steering


It is recommended to use Texaco 9226 working fluid.

Coolant of the cooling system


The concentration of antifreeze should not be less than 50% by volume. If the concentration of the aqueous solution is lower, its anticorrosive activity will be worse. The concentration of antifreeze over 60% is also not recommended, as in this case the efficiency of the cooling system will be reduced.



Use Havoline Extended Life Coolant (XLC), or any other ethylene glycol-based (ethanol-free) antifreeze with an organic acid corrosion inhibitor (OAT) only, to protect the cooling system.

CAUTION: Do not mix any other antifreeze with XLC antifreeze.


In accordance with the maintenance schedule provided in the Service Book, it is necessary to drain the coolant, flush and refill the cooling system.

After filling the cooling system, attach a plate to the vehicle indicating the type of coolant added. This is necessary to ensure that the correct type of coolant is used when topping up.

The following antifreeze water solution ratios will provide a freezing point of -36 degrees C (-33 degrees F):
