ATTENTION: When filling the engine lubrication system, use only high quality oil with the recommended viscosity index. The use of oil that does not meet the specifications will lead to increased oil and fuel consumption and eventually cause engine failure.
The recommended grades of oil contain additives that neutralize the acids formed during the combustion of the fuel and prevent the formation of coke that clogs the oil channels. It is forbidden to add additional additives to the oil.
Always follow the recommended oil change intervals.
Engine oil
The table below shows oil viscosity and temperature ranges.
Engine oil - Td4 engine
Use only synthetic oils with a viscosity grade of 0W/30, 5W/40, 5W/50 or 10W/30, 40, 60 depending on your climate and meeting ACEA A3/B3 standards. If it is not possible to use engine oils that meet this European specification, oils that meet US API SH quality standards should be used.
Engine oil - K1.8 engine
Use 10W/40 oil meeting ACEA A2 or A3 specifications.
Engine oil - KV6 engine - except North American models
Use 10W/40 oil meeting ACEA A2 or A3 specifications.
Engine oil - KV6 engine - North American car models
Use fully synthetic 5W/40 oil meeting ACEA A3 specification. If it is not possible to use engine oils that meet this European specification, oils that meet US API SH quality standards should be used.
Gearbox oil and fluid
The use of oils and fluids other than those recommended may result in serious transmission failure.
Manual transmissions - PG1 and Getrag
Use OPEL B 0400063 oil for replacement and topping up.
JATCO automatic transmission
Use Texaco N402 fluid for replacement and for topping up.
Intermediate downshift
Synthetic oil Texaco S5 75W90 or equivalent in performance, meeting API GL5 standards.
Rear differential and final drive
Multigear 80W/90 ETL oil meeting API GL5 standards.
Transmission linkage - manual transmission
Use a grease containing 3% molybdenum disulphide.
Greases for general use
Lubricate with NLGI All-Purpose Grease (lithium based) viscosity number 2.
Hood lock
Lubricate the drive cable and lock mechanism with engine oil.
