CAUTION: Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid. It can cause severe burns if it comes into contact with skin or eyes. Wear protective clothing and a transparent face shield when handling the battery.


If electrolyte comes into contact with clothing or skin, immediately wash the area with water.


If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them immediately with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.


Starting from the battery of another car - with the negative pole connected to ground.

Position the vehicles so that the jumper cables are long enough to connect. THE VEHICLES MUST NOT TOUCH EACH OTHER. If another battery is used, it must be fully charged and placed on the ground next to the vehicle.

Make sure that
  • ignition and all accessories that consume electricity are switched off;
  • the parking brake is on, the gearbox is in neutral.

Connect the connecting cables as follows:

CAUTION: When the cable is connected for the last time, sparks may occur which, if occurring near the battery, could cause an explosion.

  • a Connect one clamp of the jumper cable to the positive ("+") terminal of the auxiliary battery.
  • b Connect the other clamp of this jumper cable to the positive ("+") terminal of the discharged battery.
  • c Connect one clamp of the jumper cable to the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery.
  • d Connect the other clamp of this jumper cable to a convenient ground point on the engine.

DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE "NEGATIVE" TERMINAL OF A DISCHARGED BATTERY.

CAUTION: Make sure that the connecting cables do not touch moving parts, pulleys, drive belts, fan blades.

If the booster battery is installed in another vehicle, start its engine and let it idle.

Start the engine of the vehicle with a discharged battery by following the sequence of actions described in the Owner's Manual.

CAUTION: If the engine fails to start within 12 seconds, turn off the ignition and determine the cause. Failure to do so may result in serious damage to the catalytic converter.


When disconnecting cables, follow the correct sequence.
  • Disconnect the negative ("-") cable clamp from the engine, then from the booster battery.
  • Remove the positive ("+") cable clamp from the booster battery, then from the dead battery.
