Replacing the working fluid in the box (Freelander 1)

Operating procedure

1. Place the car on a lift.

CAUTION: Use caution when draining hydraulic fluid, which may be very hot.

2. Apply the parking brake and chock the front and rear wheels.

3. Remove the lower engine guard.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower engine protection shield.

4. Place a container to collect the fluid under the automatic transmission.

NOTE: Drain the working fluid after the gearbox has fully warmed up.

5. Wipe the area around the drain plug.



6. Remove the drain plug and discard the sealing washer.

7. Allow the working fluid to drain.

8. Clean the drain plug and install a new sealing washer.

9. Screw in the drain plug and tighten it to a torque of 45 Nm.

Filling

1. Wipe the area around the filler plug.



2. Unscrew the filler plug.



3. Fill with 3.5 to 4 liters of the recommended working fluid through the filler/check hole.

4. Wipe and screw in the filler plug.

5. Check the working fluid level and top up to the lower edge of the filler hole.

6. Reinstall the lower engine guard.
