Dismantling


1. Remove the top floor tunnel trim.

2. Disconnect the cable from the selector lever.

3. Remove the fork clip securing the cable housing to the selector housing.

4. Raise the front of the vehicle.

CAUTION: Do not work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with safety stands.


5. Remove the lower engine guard.

6. Release the gear selection cable from the body mounting.

7. Loosen the nut securing the selector cable to the gearbox lever.



8. Remove the cable sheath fastening clamp from the bracket on the gearbox, remove the cable and the cable fastening sleeve on the lever.

Installation


1. Install the cable mounting sleeve onto the selector lever, thread the cable through the hole in the sleeve, but do not tighten the nut at this stage.

2. Install the cable housing onto the gearbox bracket and secure with a clamp.

3. Install the cable onto the selector housing and secure the casing in the fork clip.

4. Insert the fork clip securing the cable housing to the selector housing.

5. Secure the cable to the selector lever.

6. Replace the top floor tunnel trim.

7. Check and adjust the selector cable.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: JATCO, ADJUSTMENTS, Selector cable adjustment.


8. Reinstall the lower engine guard.

9. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
