NOTE: The inner rear side panel is serviced as a separate weld-on panel.
NOTE: This panel has an NVH element attached to it; it is not serviceable on a new panel. If damaged, a new element will be required.
Removal
1. When replacing the inner rear side panel, the following elements are removed:
- Rear bumper trim
- Rear side panel
- Back door
- Side glass in the rear of the body
2. 3. Remove the rear quarter panel. For more information, refer to the chapter: Rear Quarter Panel (501-30 Rear Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
4. Mill out the contact welding areas.

5. Cut the old panel at the location shown, using the new panel as a template and ensuring that the new panel overlaps.

6. Separate the connections and remove the old panel, also releasing the NVH element.
Installation
1. Position the new panel and clamp it in position, overlapping the old panel. Cut the new and old panels where the MIG butt joint is to be made.

2. Remove the new panel and the remains of the old panel.
3. Prepare the mating surfaces of the old and new panels.
4. Drill holes in the new panel in preparation for MIG welding.

5. Position the new panel in the desired location and secure it in place. Check the alignment. If it is correct, proceed to the next step. If not, make the necessary adjustments and recheck before continuing.
6. Remove the new panel.
7. Replace the NVH element if necessary.
8. Apply adhesive to the NVH element.

9. Place the new panel in the required location and secure it.
10. Make tack welds for the butt joint.
11. Perform spot welding.

12. Perform electric rivet welding using MIG technology.

13. Clean the tack welds.
14. Perform butt welding using MIG technology.

15. Clean all welds.
16. Installation of the relevant panels and mechanical elements is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
