NOTE: The outer rear wheel arch is serviced as a separate weld-on panel.
Removal
1. In combination with the outer part of the rear wheel arch, the following is replaced:
- Rear bumper trim
- Rear side panel
- Back door
- Rear side window glass
- Inner side panel
2. 3. Remove the inner quarter panel. For more information, refer to the chapter: Rear Quarter Inner Panel (501-30 Rear Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).

4. Mill out the weld spots.

5. Separate the connections and remove the old panel.
Installation
1. Prepare the connecting surfaces of the old and new panels.
2. Drill holes in the new panel for MIG welding.

3. Attach the new panel and clamp it in place. Check the alignment, if correct, proceed to the next step. If not, correct and check again before proceeding to the next step.
4. Remove the new panel.
5. Apply glue to the areas shown.

6. Place the new panel and secure it in place.
7. Tack the butt joints.
8. Perform spot welding.

9. MIG welding.

10. Clean all welded joints.
11. To install the relevant panels and mechanical components, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
