NOTE: The rear crossmember is serviced as a separate weld-on panel.
NOTE: The panel is serviceable without its mounting studs.
Removal
1. In combination with the rear cross member, the following is replaced:
- Rear bumper trim
- Rear bumper fittings
- Back panel
- Inner side of the rear panel assembly
- Spare wheel niche
2. 3. Remove the spare wheel well. For more information, refer to the chapter: Spare Wheel Well (501-30 Rear Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
4. Mill out the weld spots.
5. Separate the connections and remove the old panel.
Installation
1. Prepare the connecting surfaces of the old and new panels.
2. Apply the new panel and fix it in place. Check the alignment, if correct, proceed to the next step, if not, correct and check again before proceeding to the next step.
3. Perform spot welding.

4. Install the mounting studs.
5. Clean all welded joints.
6. To install the relevant panels and mechanical components, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
