Automatic transmission pan, gasket and filter (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

3. Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to procedure: Draining and Filling Transmission Fluid - 3.2L NA - I6 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transaxle, General Procedures).

4. Remove the front subframe assembly. Refer to procedure: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).

5.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect any leaking oil.

6. Remove the gasket.

Installation

1. For sealant specification information, refer to the specifications section. Refer to procedure: Specifications (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transaxle, Specifications).

2. Apply a 3mm bead of sealant to the area shown.



3. Install the transmission fluid housing. Tightening torque: 14 Nm

4. Install the front subframe. Refer to procedure: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Fastening System, Removal and Installation).

5. Connect the ground cable to the battery and install the cover. Refer to the procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

6. Fill the transmission with transmission fluid. Refer to procedure: Draining and Filling Transmission Fluid - 3.2L NA - I6 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).
