ABS sensors (front wheels) (Discovery 1)

Caution: If for any reason the sensor is removed, use new sensor bushings and seals during installation.

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Disconnect the connector of the corresponding sensor (on the wing panel).

3. Release the sensor wires from the clip.

4. Clean the sensor installation area. Use a lever to remove the sensor.

5. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.

6. Unscrew the two bolts securing the upper kingpin and remove the sensor bushing.

Installation

7. Install the new sensor bushing and seal.

8. Apply Loctite 270 adhesive to the threads of the upper kingpin mounting bolts.

9. Lightly lubricate the sensor with EP90 oil and push the sensor into the sleeve until it contacts the sensor gear. The sensor should install itself into place after the vehicle starts moving.

10. Reinstall the removed parts.
