Intermediate shaft of the rear axle (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Remove the hub.

2. Unscrew the six bolts securing the intermediate shaft housing to the axle beam.

3. Remove the mudguard.

4. Remove the intermediate shaft housing and sealing washer.

5. Remove the intermediate shaft.

Replacing the intermediate shaft seal

6. Remove the old oil seal. Lubricate the new oil seal with EP90 oil. Using the LST 138 drift, install the oil seal flush with the intermediate shaft housing.



7. Reinstall the removed parts. The tightening torque of the intermediate shaft housing mounting bolts is 65 Nm.
