Removal


1.
CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.


Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove the fender splash guard. For more information, refer to Fender Splash Guard (76.10.48)

3. Disconnect the brake hose bracket from the wheel knuckle. Remove the mounting bolt.

3. Disconnect the brake hose bracket from the wheel knuckle. Remove the mounting bolt.

CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang by the brake hose.


Disconnect the brake caliper support plate from the wheel knuckle, move the caliper to the side and tie it down. Remove the 2 mounting bolts.

5. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the wheel knuckle. Remove the bolt.

5. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the wheel knuckle. Remove the bolt.


6. Remove the wheel speed sensor.


  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Release the 5-clamp wiring harness.
Release the 5-clamp wiring harness.


Installation


1. Make sure the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the wheel knuckle is free of dirt.

2.
NOTE: Make sure the electrical connector retaining clip is secured to the body wiring harness.


Install the wheel speed sensor.
  • Connect the electrical connector.
  • Secure the wire harness to the 5 clamps.
  • Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 9 Nm).

3. Attach the brake caliper and backing plate to the wheel knuckle. Tighten the bolts. (tightening torque 275 Nm).

4. Attach the brake hose bracket to the wheel knuckle. Tighten the bolt. (tightening torque 25 Nm).

5. Install the fender splash guard. For more information, refer to Fender Splash Guard (76.10.48)

6. Install the wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the wheel nuts. (tightening torque 140 Nm).

7. Press the brake pedal, check the level of working fluid in the brake hydraulic reservoir and top up if necessary.

8. If a new wheel speed sensor is installed, perform an ABS system query using T4.
