Removal and installation the generator 4.4L (Discovery 3)

Removal

1.

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03)

4. Remove the front wheel.

5. Remove the mudguard. For more information, refer to Mudguard (76.10.48)

6. Remove the generator splash guard. Remove the 4 fasteners.



7. Remove the positive battery cable.

• Remove the positive battery cable cover.
• Unscrew the fastening nut.
• Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

8. Remove the generator. Unscrew the 3 bolts.

Installation

1. Install the positive battery cable.

• Connect the positive battery cable.
• Tighten the mounting nut (tightening torque 10 Nm).
• Connect the generator electrical connector.

2. Install the generator. Tighten the 3 bolts. (tightening torque 48 Nm).

3. Install the generator splash guard.

4. Install the mudguard. For more information, refer to Mudguard (76.10.48)

5. Install the front wheel. Tighten the wheel nuts. (tightening torque 140 Nm).

6. Install the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03)

7. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

8. Lower the vehicle.
