Removal and installation the oil pan (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

CAUTION: Never work on or under a vehicle that is supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Drain the engine oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Filling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

4. Release the wiring harness bracket. Unscrew the 2 nuts.



5. Remove the oil pan.

• Remove 10 bolts.
• Remove the gasket and discard it.

Installation

1. Install the oil pan.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new gasket.
• Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually. (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Install the wiring harness bracket. Tighten the nuts. (tightening torque 6 Nm).



3. Fill the engine with oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Filling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

4. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specifications
