Right Rear Cassette Sprocket Locking Tool 303-643

Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

2. Remove the right bank cylinder head assembly. For more information, refer to Right Cylinder Head (12.29.05)

3. Remove the torque converter flex plate. For more information, refer to Flex Plate (12.53.13)

4. Remove the intermediate shaft plug from the cylinder block. Move the part to remove it.

5. Using the special tool, remove the right intermediate shaft drive cassette and sprocket bolt. Remove and discard the Torx head bolt.

6. Remove the camshaft drive cassette assembly.


  • Remove the chain guide mounting bolt.
  • Remove the sealing ring and discard it.

NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the part is removed only for access.


Disassemble the cassette assembly.
  • Release the wire tie.
  • Remove the sprockets and chain.
  • Clean the parts and check them for wear.

Installation


1. Assemble the cassette.
  • Install the chain and sprockets.
  • Secure the pieces with wire ties.
2. Install the camshaft drive cassette assembly.
  • Install a new O-ring.
  • Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 12 Nm).
3. Using the special tool, tighten the new intermediate shaft sprocket bolt to 40 Nm, then another 45 degrees.

4. Install the intermediate shaft plug of the cylinder block. Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.



5. Install the torque converter flex plate. For more information, refer to Flex Plate (12.53.13)

6. Install the right bank cylinder head assembly. For more information, refer to Right Cylinder Head (12.29.05)

7. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specifications
