Front console assembly — for cars after 2004 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the rear console.

INTERIOR TRIM DETAILS, REPAIR WORK, Rear console.

2. Remove the automatic transmission selector lever position indicator.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: JATCO, REPAIR WORK, Selector position indicator: vehicles manufactured after May 2004.

3. Carefully pry the top console cover up and slide it back to release the tabs located at the front edge of the cover.



4. Remove the 4 screws securing the center console.



5. Disconnect the 6 electrical connectors and remove the console.

NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to provide access to other system components, no further disassembly operations should be performed.

6. Remove the switches from the console, having first remembered their location.

7. Remove the 4 screws securing the ashtray to the center console trim and remove the ashtray.

Installation

1. Install the switches on the console.

2. Install the ashtray on the center console trim and tighten the screws that secure it.

3. While holding the console, connect the wire connectors.

4. Install the console and secure it with screws.

5. Install the console top cover and secure it with the clips.

6. Install the automatic transmission selector assembly.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: JATCO, REPAIR WORK, Selector position indicator: vehicles manufactured after May 2004.

7. Reinstall the rear console.
